x = 9 (simple Pr)

ReplyDeleteDraw FP// CD ( P is on AD)

ReplyDeleteSince F is the midpoint of AE so FP= .5*CD= 6

GH= 1/(FP+CD)= 9

Extend HG to meet BC at K. Draw FL // AB, L on BC

ReplyDeleteApplying mid point theorem to Tr.s ABE & CFL,

GK = FL/2 = (AB/2)/2 = AB / 4 = CD/4 = 12 / 4 = 3

Now CDHK is a parallelogram

So GH = HK - GK = 12 - 3 = 9
